Home Office: "Up Business and Down Pajamas"?

Working in the Home Office

In our series "TWINSOFT'ler im Home Office" Tabea tells you how she prepares for home office appointments as a salesperson and why her dog is a great help in her everyday work.

Hello to everyone who has just come across this blog post.

The topic of home office currently affects us all at TWINSOFT. Following, I would like to chat something out of the sewing box of a saleswoman in the HO.

How is it, instead of visiting the customers on site, having a coffee in their own four walls and exchanging information about the current status for several weeks in the permanent home office? Can it work as an account manager? My answer is: yes, it can!

Strong self-management

But this requires even more pronounced self-management than in sales anyway. Sure, the hierarchies and workflows are still there, but the environment is quite different. Not everyone is made to "supervise" themselves, to set themselves an expectation for the day in order to fulfill it to the fullest satisfaction and then, if necessary, to praise themselves for small successes.

For me, the evening before is crucial for how well the coming day works. In the evening I make sure that I have no distraction in the morning and can fully engage in the working day. This also includes: Do all domestic work in the evening so as not to stumble over distracting tasks in the morning.

Oxygen works wonders

The newly gained time in the morning, which has arisen for me through saved travel times, I use for an extended walk in the fresh air. Sounds funny, but: Without my dog, I might never have come up with this idea. Movement and oxygen really do wonders. In addition, I already plan in my head the tasks for the day. For the most part, I still read my first emails in bed and know what else will happen. Once home, I put my thoughts on paper in the form of a to-do list.

I work exclusively from my desk. I am glad to have a separate study in which I know exactly: this is where people work.
In the last few weeks I have optimized this a bit. I cannot visit customers and interested parties personally, but it shows that the modern exchange via teams, zoom and co. can be a good alternative. Somehow you come completely differently to your counterpart when you meet him or her in the "private" environment.

Dates also in the "Termin-Outfit"

Important, whether it is a significant phone call or an online meeting. "Up business, down pajamas" is not possible in my opinion! Of course, no one sees what kind of shoes you wear, but they look at you, on your face, on your posture. When an appointment is due, I prepare as if for a personal meeting. Of course, I also have days when I work so in front of me and sit in the jogger at the desk, that may (and must ;-) of course sometimes be.

Stay healthy!
