Darmstadt, 14 July 2025: The IT security specialist TWINSOFT now offers a service for "Darknet Monitoring". This allows institutions of all kinds to find out whether their data is traded on the darknet and whether information about them circulates in places where they have no business. This gives them information about whether they have already been compromised or whether there are signs of an imminent threat.
Darknet monitoring works as follows: First, employees of the customer sit down with specialists from TWINSOFT and determine which terms the darknet should be searched for. This includes, for example, the company name, the names of brands and products, the domains used, location data, credit card numbers or the names of particularly important employees.
Once the search terms have been defined, TWINSOFT’s darknet monitoring solution examines a variety of different sources around the clock for the aforementioned information. These include forums, marketplaces, data leaks and chats, for example on Telegram.
Customers are always able to access and search the found entries via a special dashboard. In addition, the experts at TWINSOFT analyze all found hits, inform the customers about their results and give concrete recommendations for action. In addition, they notify their customers immediately if they discover sensitive data from them on the darknet. This allows customers to quickly respond to threats, secure accounts and protect your digital identity.
The TWINSOFT service thus combines automated technologies with human expertise to ensure effective monitoring of the darknet. While automated tools can quickly search vast amounts of data, the final risk assessment and threat assessment is done by experienced security experts. This combination ensures that no threat is overlooked while minimizing the number of false alarms.
What is the Darknet?
The darknet is a hidden part of the Internet that is not accessible through traditional search engines and is used for anonymous communication. While there are legitimate use cases (e.g. providing secure communications to whistleblowers), it is also a rallying place for criminal activity – including trafficking in stolen data, identity fraud and cyberattacks.
For companies, this poses a significant threat: confidential data such as customer information, trade secrets or access data can circulate on the darknet without the companies concerned noticing. Such data leaks may result in reputational damage, financial losses and legal consequences. Therefore, it is crucial to proactively investigate the darknet for hints of leaked company information. This is the only way to take countermeasures in good time and minimize potential damage. In addition, darknet monitoring also helps to obtain information about potential attackers and their planned methods, as well as to detect trademark abuse and identity theft.
For companies pursuing a proactive security strategy, darknet monitoring is therefore a crucial tool. Thorough analysis can help uncover unexpected vulnerabilities and significantly improve the protection of sensitive information.
