Nothing works without water. This applies to almost all the smallest organisms as well as to entire countries or the world as a whole. Consequently, water companies (WWU) belong to the critical infrastructure and must therefore be protected particularly well against cyber attacks and digital warfare. Not to imagine what would happen in a few days if the water supply and disposal were brought to a standstill by malware, manipulated or severely disturbed.
In order to prevent such horror scenarios from becoming a reality, we at TWINSOFT, together with some strong partners at our side, such as Aware 7 and PHYSEC at the Competence Center for Digital Water Management (KDW), have not only established a security awareness platform that significantly increases the knowledge in the field of IT security among the employees of WWU and significantly reduces the chance for attackers, but also designed, planned and ultimately established a Security Operation Center (SOC).
Among other things, by selecting a SIEM and a PAM solution that best fit the specific needs of EMU and a tailor-made adaptation of the entire SOC environment – we were able to launch a pilot phase in a very short time and successfully contest it.
We are very happy that we were able to successfully complete and implement such a big and important task in really few months. We are now at the point that, following the pilot phase in April, all EMU can secure all the advantages of the awareness platform created in the KDW and the individually tailored SOC. The fact that we as TWINSOFT were able to play such an important role in development and thus contribute to the protection of one of the most important resources at all makes us as a company simply proud, explains CEO Gereon Tillenburg.
